How is Creighton FertilityCare™ related to NaPro™ Technology?

Creighton FertilityCare™ charting provides the data necessary for a NaPro™ medical consultant to diagnose and treat women’s health issues. Except for postpartum depression, all NaPro™ treatments rely on Creighton Model FertilityCare™ charting.

How effective is Creighton FertilityCare™ for family planning?

For Avoiding Pregancy:

A large study of 1,876 couples with normal fertility showed that at 12 months, method effectiveness to avoid pregnancy was 99.5%, and use effectiveness to avoid pregnancy was 96.8%

For Achieving Pregnancy:

98% of couples with normal fertility achieve pregnancy by the 6th cycle of charting

For Infertility:

Using Creighton Model charting only: 20-40% of couples achieve pregnancy

Using Creighton Model & NaProTECHNOLOGY: up to 80% of couples achieve pregnancy

Why have I heard NFP does not work well to avoid pregnancy?

It is important to understand that methods of calculating effectiveness of contraceptives do not work very well for describing natural family planning systems. Contraceptive methods only work to prevent pregnancy, and they do so by trying to change the reproductive nature of intercourse. As such, any pregnancy is considered a “failure” of the method. By contrast, couples using a natural family planning method are free to use the method to achieve a pregnancy or avoid a pregnancy – so both achievement of a pregnancy and avoidance of pregnancy can be successful outcomes of the method.

How is Creighton Model FertilityCare™ good for women's health?

In addition to family planning, the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ provides valuable insight into a woman’s health and well being. The female reproductive system relies on the healthy function of many parts of the body. The normal menstrual cycle (“period”) is a sign of good health. Abnormalities in the cycle can be indicators of health problems such as hormonal abnormalities, infections, and even cancer.

Can I use Creighton Model FertilityCare™ if I have irregular cycles?

Yes! The Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System is effective for women who are breastfeeding, premenopausal, or have irregular cycles.

How is Creighton FertilityCare™ different than other methods of natural family planning?

Creighton Model FertilityCare™ is the only method that provides the data needed for medical evaluation and treatment with a NaPro™ medical consultant. Creighton Model FertilityCare™ is a standardized method of charting a woman's cycle and is always taught by a trained practitioner. FertilityCare™ centers are available across the country and internationally, so if you move, you will be able to find a practitioner to continue to support you.

Is the Creighton FertilityCare™ Method easy to learn?

Yes! Creighton Practitioners can accompany any woman in learning to confidently observe and chart their body's natural signs of her fertility and health. Through personalized follow ups with a qualified practitioner, women gain understanding of their bodies and how to advocate for their health and fertility needs.

How is the Creighton Method different than artificial contraceptives?

Artificial contraceptives can be used only avoid pregnancy and do so through disrupting the body's natural reproductive cycle. The Creighton Method can be used to either naturally avoid or achieve pregnancy through cooperating with the body's natural seasons of fertility and infertility.

Artificial contraceptives also separate the procreative and unitive components of intercourse. The Creighton Method always respects and upholds the procreative and unitive components of intercourse and aligns completely with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Artificial contraceptives have risk of serious medical side effects and potential harm to the woman. The Creighton Method has no side effects and is medically helpful in providing reproductive health information that can be used to diagnose and treat the underlying cause of abnormalities.
